🌼 Why I’m Moving Little Sew and Sew Toward Eco‑Friendly Fabrics
Partager
Running a small fabric and yarn shop means constantly thinking about the materials we bring into the world. Over the past few months, I’ve been quietly shifting Little Sew and Sew toward a more eco‑friendly, vegan‑friendly range, not in a dramatic overnight way, but in a slow, thoughtful, sustainable one.
I wanted to share a little about why this matters to me, and what it means for the future of the shop.
🌿 Sewing should feel good — for makers and for the planet
Most of us sew because it brings us joy. It’s calming, creative, grounding. But the materials we use also have an impact, and I want that impact to be as gentle as possible.
That’s why I’m gradually choosing fabrics and yarns that are:
-
plant‑based
-
responsibly sourced
-
kinder to the environment
-
accessible in price
-
beautiful to work with
It’s not about perfection - it’s about direction.
🧵 What this means for the shop right now
Because I inherited much of my current stock, you’ll still see a mix of fabrics while I transition. Some listings have limited information, and some fibres aren’t as eco‑focused as I’d like. But every new product I bring in is chosen with care.
You’ll start to see more:
-
organic cottons
-
bamboo and Tencel blends
-
recycled or reclaimed fibres
-
scrap‑friendly kits
-
low‑waste project ideas
It’s a slow shift, but a meaningful one.
🌱 Small changes add up
I’m a one‑woman shop balancing fabric, dog rescue work, teaching, and life, so I’m not aiming for a perfect eco‑store overnight. But every small decision counts:
-
choosing mills with better environmental practices
-
reducing plastic packaging
-
designing kits that use leftovers
-
encouraging mindful making
These are changes I can make right now, and they feel right.
💛 Thank you for supporting a thoughtful little shop
Every order, every message, every kind word helps me grow Little Sew and Sew in a way that aligns with my values. I’m excited to keep moving toward a range that feels good for you, good for me, and good for the planet.
