Our Sustainability Pledge: Where We Are and Where We're Going

Hi everyone,

When I took over Little Sew and Sew, I was really struck by the amount of plastic and excess packaging. As someone with a background in SFX costume, I've always been aware of the wastefulness that can exist in the crafting world, and seeing it first-hand in my own shop was a real eye-opener.

I knew I wanted to make a change, and I'm committed to transforming Little Sew and Sew into a more sustainable space for our crafting community.

Where I Am Now:

Right now, I still have stock from my mother's original business. I believe it's important to honour the resources I already have, and ensure these products are used and loved, rather than contributing to more waste. So, while I work through this existing stock, I'm also actively researching and making changes for the future.

The Steps I'm Taking:

I've been diving into the world of suppliers, and I've discovered some fantastic companies that share my commitment to sustainability. While it's true that many wholesalers still have a long way to go in reducing plastic, I'm determined to partner with those who are making a difference.

I'm excited to say that I'm already finding suppliers with plastic-free and even packaging-free options! I know that some of us love the pretty packaging, but ultimately, it often ends up in the bin. By choosing products with minimal or no packaging, I'm taking a real step towards reducing our impact.

Our Sustainability Pledge:

My goal is to transition Little Sew and Sew into a zero-waste fabric and craft shop. This is a journey, and I'm committed to making it happen. All new stock will be chosen with sustainability in mind.

I believe in progress over perfection, and I know that by working together, we can make a real difference. I'm dedicated to finding innovative ways to reduce waste, from exploring bulk options to offering recycling programs in the future.
